In a surprise move by the Norwegian based Nobel Committee U.S. President
Barack Obama becomes the third sitting U.S. President to win the coveted Nobel Peace Prize. The committee sited President Obama's work to change the world's political climate and his work on nuclear disarmament.
The President humbly accepted the award in a speech from the rose garden at the White House. Mr. Obama called the award "a call to action." The Nobel award is a show of support for the direction the international community believes the Obama
administration in headed.
The Award comes as Mr. Obama public support among the Americans slipped to from
the highs he experienced 37 weeks ago when he took office. The fickle American population may be souring towards the President, but the international community, with a few exceptions, views the U.S
President as a beacon of hope for the return of multilateral diplomacy after eight years of Bush
administration policies.
